DIGITAL TWIN & SIMULATION

Simfact helps you build your digital twin. A virtual 3D representation of your workcell or the complete factory gives great advantages and opportunities:

Validation of automation initiatives.

Eliminates the need for multiple prototypes.

Faster and cheaper iterations in design phase.

Reduces total development time.

Improves quality of the final workcell.

Reduces downtime on existing equipment.

Majority of decision-making prior to hardware investment.

Enables Offline Programming.

Whenever there is an automation project, either green field (new) or brown field (existing) installation, we help refine your Digital twin from current state, whether it is non-existent or in-progress.

We provide services within three project stages, either individually or in context. Often a project starts out as a feasibility study and if the business case shows out to be advantageous, then it evolves in to an actual automation project. This is where we provide detailed workcell simulation and contribute to the project as a key member of the project group.

Here is an overview of the three stages and the tasks usually occurring. They are described in detail on the following pages.

Feasibility Study

  • Process clarification & analysis (understanding the primary process)
  • Solution development (automation scenarios)
  • DFM (automation enhancements towards the product)
  • Preliminary dynamic 3D layout (reach/collision analysis)
  • Preliminary cycle simulation (indicative flow and cycle times)
  • Capacity estimation (indicative cell throughput)
  • Technical input to RFQ (Request For Quotation)
  • Equipment FRS (Functional Requirement Specifications)
  • Preliminary BOM (hardware overview)

Workcell Simulation

  • Process clarification & analysis (understanding the primary process)
  • Detailed solution development (automation solution)
  • Master layout development and maintenance (digital twin)
  • Detailed process simulation (exact motions)
  • Complete workcell cycle (with support processes)
  • DFM (automation enhancements towards the product)
  • Equipment FRS (Functional Requirement Specifications)
  • Technical project management (coordinating all project parties)

Offline Programming (OLP)

  • Building workcell (3D model with kinematics)
  • Cell calibration (eliminating the differences between theory and reality)
  • Process parameters (parametrizing craftmanship)
  • OLP programming (programming and simulating the robots offline)
  • On-demand OLP (outsourced OLP work, whenever there is a need
